I read the article "When Parent's Good Intentions Disparage Obese Children" (http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/05/12/bullying.childhood.obesity/index.html?hpt=C2), and found it to be like others that i have heard before. There are many stories of children who are obese at a young age go through a "dark" period when they are older, and then they turn their lives around. This is exactly what Claudia Garza did. Her family teased her at home about her weight, but instead of giving her motivation to lose it, they just depressed her which led to her gorging herself with even more food.
I think her parents should have given her constructive criticism once in a while, instead of teasing her every day. Your family is supposed to make you happy and feel good about yourself. Garza's family just made her even more self-conscious, troubled, and depressed.
Just like the article said, I also agree that parents are responsible for the health of their children, especially at a young age. The family should schedule fun, active things to do such as community sports or going hiking. It is also beneficial to eat healthier as a family and not just lecture the kids into doing it themselves. This will probably cause them to just sneak junk food like Garza did.
I think that this article shows just how much a simple thing can damage a person. Although some people recover from things of this sort, many don't.

One job that was recommended for me was a zoologist and wildlife biologist. I would like to have a job like this because I love animals and wildlife, so it would be great to study and learn more about them for a career.
Salary: MEDIAN for 1 year- $71,440
HOURLY wage median- $34.35
Job Outlook: Biological scientists held somewhere around 91,300 jobs in 2008. Forty percent of them were employed through federal, state, and local governments. Some worked in testing labratories while others rokred in educational institutions, the National Institutes of Health, and other places too.
Education needed: A Bachealor's degree is typical and more than five years of experience is usually required.
Working conditions: Most biologists spend their time in labratories doing research or in offices writing their work. Zoologists, though, generally spend their time in the "field" doing strenuous activity and in primitive living conditions for long periods at a time. A forty-hour week is most common.
I would prefer to be a Zoologist when it comes down to the working conditions. I don't want to spend most of my days inside.
Another job that appeals to me from the recommendatins is a Phsycologist. I like to help people and generally pick my own hours and who I work with.
Salary: MEDIAN for one year- $101,550
HOURLY wage median- $41.41
Job Outlook: Government agencies employed psychologists in correctional facilities, hospitals, teaching, and many other places too. Thirty-four percent were their own boss in 2008, having their own business.
Education Needed: Masters Degree and Bachelor's degree are required plus more than five years of training/experience.
Working Conditions: Depending on the level and field that you are in, you have the option of setting your own hours, working weekends or weekdays, and choosing your clients. You will most likely work in an office setting.

If i could go anywhere in the world for three weeks and have money not be any issue, i would go to Australia. One reason is to be able to see all the different animals they have there, like kangaroos and koalas. I would also love to visit and hang around in the sun at the beach with my friends and see the beautiful sunsets that they have there. I would bring with me a group of friends, money, a camera and video camera, and a ton of clothes and bathing suits too.
I would love to scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef, which is the world's largest coral reef. It would be a lot of fun to hike one of the few mountains that Australia has too. Also, I'd want to go riding in the "outback". :)Australians have aquired a different way of talking to one another, and I'd love to learn how to talk like them and use the lingo that they do. I've always loved hearing people from other places talk, but Australia is deffinately one of my favorites.

Bullying
From this article I learned that kids can be very cruel to others, even when it is noticable that what they are doing is wrong. Also, adults at the school did not stand up to the bullying as they should have. The teens who bullied the girl, although they did not intend for her to commit suicide, should suffer some sort of penalty. I do not think they deserve jail time though, maybe 400 hours of community service or something of that sort. I have seen many bullying incidents, but nothing ever this bad. I remember when I was little, a few kids were teasing one of my friends, which made me mad so I kicked them and got in trouble by the teacher. It was worth it though :p haha. If i see bullying, I can go to a nearby teacher or advisor and let them know what is going on. From this tradgedy, it can be learned that even though some things may be funny to you, it may hurt others and cause them pain, so take their feelings into consideration.

I do not think that it is fair for employers to look at someone's Facebook page and have it define if they are hired or not. I agree that this is an invasion of privacy. What happens out of the work place should stay out of the work place and thats that. What you may see on someones Facebook page is not accurate of how they would act. People are constantly changing, and you cant help what other people may write to you on Facebook. I do not agree with the statement "some people say that because Facebook and Myspace are open to the public, they are fair game and can be used to determine your employability". What is on your personal page should not determine if you get a job. Your cridentials and experince should determine if you are hired or not. I would not be willing to show my potential employer my Facebook and Myspace page because they do not need to know what my business outside of work is.
Alright, well i really love summer; EVERYTHING in summer. I love the first day when you wake up and know that there will be no school for what seems like forever. You can feel all of the sun's rays and it just makes everything so much happier. My family, friends, and I always go camping at Lake Pillsbury, my favorite place on Earth. W play volleyball, go boating and wakeboarding and tubing, and we also jump off split rock. At night time we have bonfires and cookouts and then all of the teens lay out on the dock and watch the stars and have a good time. Sometimes, though, we will wander to the old brick house and scare each other. I also love to float the Potter Valley river with my friends during summer. U grab a bunch of intertubes and ride the damns and the flows of the river. It is always a ton of fun :)

Car :p

I would love to have a truck because my family, friends and I all love to ride fourwheelers and dirtbikes and go camping constantly. Having the bed would make it a ton of a lot easier to carry all these things needed. This car is a 2010 Ford Ranger and gets 24 miles per gallon. The specific name of the truck is XL 2dr Regular Cab Styleside SB. To get cheaper insurance for this car, since I'm a teen, I can get on my parent's policy and continue with good grades. If i get in a crash or get a DUI, however, my insurance rates will sky rocket.

Future Life
I see myself going to a four year college out of high school. I’m afraid that if I take a year off before college, I’ll be too lazy to go back to schooling. I don’t know which college I want to attend, but out of state is what I know I want. When I went on a trip, I found out that there is a college in the Caribbean. Now THAT would be a ton of fun to go to. In ten years I see myself as a wildlife photographer or studying to become a therapist. I can’t see myself doing many office jobs, because that just isn’t my personality. I like being outdoors and having a unique daily routine. I would like to live on Redwood Valley, like I do now, but in a different house of course. I love the vineyards and everything about it. I would not do well in a big city since I hate being crowded and having to obey strict rules. Like most people, I of course want to eventually own my own house. I would like a white house, with dark blue shutters and a red door too. The main thing I demand that my house has, though, is a wooden wrap around porch. I love watching sunsets and sunrises, which would be perfect to do on a porch like that along with many other things. I also would like to have one of those “open” showers with a ton of shower heads; I’ve always liked those for some reason. I want to eventually get married and have kids, although being tied down give me the creeps a little bit. Having kids would mean my life changing drastically, which I don’t know if I would like. I’m sure that in ten years I will be active in the community, continuing to help out at the animal shelter like I have started to do now, and being part of community projects and events. Being active is something I know I will be doing, since I love to do it already. I also love eating healthy foods such as fruits and veggies. My favorite food is an artichoke Also, in ten years I can see myself having traveled quite a few places. I want to visit Germany, Australia, Rome, Jamaica, and a few more times to the Caribbean. Although it isn’t likely to happen, I would love it if I could have my own home on Barbados. The beaches there are beautiful and clean and it’s ALWAYS warm. Since I am a wuss when it comes to the cold, I would travel there during the winter and come back for spring, summer, and fall.

Pet Peeves
One thing that REALLY gets on my nerves is when a person is drinking something out of a can that has a “gutter”, such as a soda can, and the fluid gets caught in it. Whenever I have a drink with a gutter, I have to suck out the drink after every sip. My friend knows that this gets my blood boiling, so he purposely holds his can in front of me with the gutter filled as much as possible. I can’t stand it. Whenever this happens, I just have to try to make him drink it out or ill wipe it out with a napkin if I can get it from his hands.
The other day my mom mixed chocolate milk and regular milk in a glass, and began to drink it. I went over, grabbed her drink, and stirred it with irritation. She looked at me as if I were a crazy woman by “ruining” her drink as she claimed. From this little episode, you can probably tell that a pet peeve of mine is when people don’t stir their drinks. The sight of all the different pockets of colors make me cringe, it really really does. Also, it just makes my whole body tick when you get little mouthfuls of different flavors because they haven’t been blended together yet. Yea, I guess u could sit and wait for diffusion to happen, but that takes too long and it still wouldn’t get rid of my pet peeve; I’ve tried it.

Spring Break
Well all right, over the break my friend spent the entire time at my house instead of her own, but I didnt mind. It was actually really fun since we dont get sick of each other easily, but when we do we just hang out with different people for the day. I also went to Santa Rosa and got some clothes, just like every other girl over break did at least once I'm sure. Near the middle of the week, my friend taught me to drive a stick shift, which I have to admit I was pretty horrible at. I am getting better now though... but am still horrible no doubt. My mom cooked a giant dinner a few of the nights for my friends and I; it was a blast. We also cleaned out the shop and made it into a giant game and hangout spot :) Also, my room got expamded to twicer the size! (We knocked out a wall).
